While there is still no official reopen date for Oregon’s “personal care” services, it will be going by county. Each county must (1) apply to reopen, and (2) meet all of the listed requirements. Judging by all of the information I am keeping tabs on, Washington County *may* be able to do so by early June. It seems contact tracing is the biggest deterent at the moment, but also our ever-increasing COVID-19 cases. As such, I am imploring you to keep up the masks, keep up the physical distancing, keep washing your hands… I cannot reopen until ALL OF US work together to get me there.
At the moment, the current rules for Oregon’s businesses are listed here. **PLEASE READ THAT**  Honestly, I have no problems following all of these. I only have one question — as far as “smocks” go. Obviously, this was written more for hairdressers than the rest of us in the beauty profession (nails, massage, esthetics, tattoo, etc), so questions have been submitted by some of my nail friends to clarify use of smocks. Do we need actual smocks, or will our aprons be ok? If we’re not required to use gloves (just wash hands for 20 seconds), would not washing our bare arms suffice?
These rules are subject to change, and I will update with another blog post as well as a letter directly to my clients through Schedulicity when I have the final list, but bare minimum,
(1) I *will* be asking medical COVID-related questions & noting your answers.
(2) I will be continuing to maintain a data base of your name, address, phone number, and email address (this was a Cosmetology Board requirement, anyway).
(3) I will be requiring a mask of some sort for all clients.
(4) I will be wearing a mask myself.
(5) You will not be allowed to bring extra people, food, or drink with you.
(6) Your phone, purse, etc are off-limits after you wash your hands until such time as you have to pay me.
(7) I would prefer electronic payment (I can invoice for no-contact, or you can use your card and I will wipe it before handing it back).
(8) You will also be required to stay in your car until your appointment time; no one will be allowed to congregate in the reception area.
